Willowhouse Live in New Orleans!

We had the distinct honor to have been invited by the Baha'is Of New Orleans to perform at this year's Race Unity Day picnic.

We had originally contacted them to ask if there was any upcoming events this summer that we might offer some music for. The Local Spiritual Assembly met and decided that they would resume their annual picnics for Race Unity Day, and asked if we could come to that. We happily agreed, and after working out the logistics we winged our way south.

The event was held on Sunday, June 8th at 3 PM in Audubon Park, on St. Charles Avenue near the park entrance. We arrived in true New Orleans style - via streetcar. We set up under the massive, sprawling oaks in the park and played acoustic versions of Baha'i prayer songs, as well as some Baha'i-inspired original music, for our new friends.

In the course of the afternoon, the Baha'is attracted some new friends from passers-by, including a Baha'i couple from Paraguay who had been searching for the local Baha'is for some time and had not yet found them. Witnessing the timely connection and their heartfelt welcome was a very special moment that alone would have been worth the journey.

All in all, we had a special and wonderful time sharing food, music, and passing a good time with our new friends, and we're looking forward to returning soon.
